STOCKING WINNESHIEK COUNTY FOOD PANTRIES October 28, 2019 – Decorah – This is an example of community generosity at its best. This is the second time Decorah Bank & Trust, in partnership with the Lynch Family Foundation, will help stock the Winneshiek County Food Pantries. The Bank will match the community’s donations up to $2,500, and the Lynch Family Foundation will match up to $2,500 in pork. Hunger and food insecurity is a serious concern Money and food donated to the Winneshiek County Food pantries is shared with Iowa residents for whatever reason. Every dollar that is donated can aquire more than ten dollars worth of food for people who need it. You can truly make a difference! Watching the generosity unfold Last year, one contributor stood out: Our teller noticed a young woman, in her twenties, dropped all of the proceeds from her entire paycheck in the piggy bank. What a gift! It was great to see community members come together to accept the pledge challenge – customers and community members, along with Decorah Bank, contributed $6,006.12 in monetary donations. Donations can be dropped off in Decorah Bank’s lobby in the whiskey barrel piggy bank through Friday, November 22nd. Checks can be made out to one of the Winneshiek County Food Pantries: Northeast Iowa Community Action Corp., Decorah Community Food Pantry, or Greater Area Food Pantry. Together, let’s see what we can do to hold-off hunger.
